The circuit breakers for these are normally close to the main switch, or close to the RCD.
If there is a number printed on the front of the circuit breaker, you will be looking for 32A, 40A, or 50A
If the circuit breaker is in the down position or in a middle position, push the switch down and then push it back up. This should reset the power to your cooker and the switches for it.
If you have the old style Rewireable fuses, on an old fuse board, then look for a red dot with the number 30 on it - there could be a higher number it too, it is likely to be on the fuse closest to the main switch, or you may have your own separate little fuse box with the cooker wired into that, and you may find that the fuse wire has burnt out.
Replace the wire for a new piece of wire of the appropriate size, and your cooker will come back on. Should you feel not confident to do this then call out your local electrician who will be able to help you rewire the views.
Many times we have been called out to find that the switch has been turned off at the wall, or you may find that the big switch is inside a cupboard, the switch could be in a over-the-counter cupboard at the back, or in one of the lower base cabinets.
It is often the case that when you are restocking your cupboards, or don’t have enough room for the last bottle of ketchup, you push the bottles and cans in and close the door, this can sometimes switch off the cooker switch.
If you have switched your cooker off or there has been a power cut, the internal control systems may not work until you have reset the timer.
Check the cooker to see if you have the Clock - ON or OFF.
If the clock is on then reset the time, even just advancing it a few minutes. Your cooker and grill will come back into action.
We now have an issue as to whether the electrical connections are terminated correctly in the connection unit or even into the cooker it self, here and electrician can quickly visit and confirm whether the electricity is actually flowing through to the cooker.
Should you find that part of the cooker is working and other parts are not working, then the next step is to call out an electrical appliance engineer.
At Bright Spark although we are electricians we do not fix electrical appliances, it could be a simple things such as replacing heating elements in the oven which have died/burnt out. Or it could be the rings on top which have packed in.

Karen says..."For me I would check the model number online – to see if there are issues with that type of cooker, and sometimes you may be able to replace the heating elements yourself in the oven".
In all cases, switch off the appliance at the wall and also remove the fuse, or switch off at the circuit breaker at the consumer unit. If you do not feel confident to do this, then consult your Local Electrical Appliance Engineer.
Remember if you have got an extended warranty on your cooker, then it may be worth contacting the supplier or manufacturer, we have come across a number of cases like this over the years, but the customer advises that the cooker is only a couple of years old, but when checking out the label/date stamp on the cooker we find that the cooker may have exceeded its extended warranty.
Depending on the cost of cooker, it may be worthwhile just replacing with a new one.

We do carry a waste carriers license for such work, this saves you the time and inconvenience in loading your car up with an old cooker, and taking it down to the Local Recycling Centre (where you often have to Book!)
