The EU Eco-design Directive is a beacon of environmental consciousness, designed to reduce energy consumption and minimize the environmental footprint of energy-related products. As part of this directive, fluorescent tubes and Compact Fluorescent (CFL’s) have been phased out in the UK, in line with the broader mission of promoting energy-efficient lighting solutions.

“If you can get them still – build up a collection for your light fittings particularly the Capsule Bulbs – Now” says Karen at Bright Spark.
Changing a halogen capsule bulb is very easy. In order to save on your energy costs, you can replace a halogen bulb directly with an LED bulb.
In addition, LED lights last on average around 25 times longer than a halogen bulb.
When they were first introduced, they were not “pretty” to look at, but as time & technology have moved on, the replacement Capsule LED bulbs are getting closer to mimic the style of the Halogen versions.
As we bid farewell to Fluorescent & Halogen lighting, we usher in a new era of illumination that is energy-efficient, environmentally conscious, and versatile.

Karen recently came to our place on a Sunday afternoon when our kitchen suddenly lost all power. She found and fixed the problem with the breaker very quickly, and also checked the others. I had an emergency situation arising from a constantly tripping appliance. So who would've thought an electrician could have sorted a hot water problem? My external security lights had failed and because they were over 20 years old, several electricians felt unable to help me. I then asked Karen from Bright Sparks to get involved.
